When attending a class here at The Scrapbook Garden, please check the class page for a list of specific supplies you will need to have with you during class.
In addition to the items needed for your specific class, please bring your basic tool kit with you to every class! For you newbies out there, a Scrapbooker's basic tool kit includes things such as a good paper trimmer, writing pens, corner rounders, lots of adhesives (such as tape runners, liquid glue, Glue Dots, and foam tape), various colors of ink, scissors, paper piercer, etc. If you don't know how some of those items are used, here's a little cheat sheet for you:
12" Paper Trimmer: Used for straight and accurate straight line cutting. Standard Scrapbooking paper is 12" x 12" so your paper trimmer needs to be at least 12" to accommodate the size of your paper.
Glue Dots: Used to attached small, light items (such as flowers or buttons) to your page.
Adhesive Runner: Works like double-sided tape, but much quicker to apply.
Journaling Pens: Most commonly used in black or brown, but lots of other colors are also used. Be sure to choose a pen that says it's acid free or archival quality.
Black/brown ink pads: Used with rubber stamps or direct to paper edges for a distressed look. Comes in many colors, but black and brown are the most commonly used.
Craft Knife: For cutting intricate shapes or used with a ruler for straight line cutting.
Cutting Mat: Protects your work surface when cutting with a craft knife or other sharp objects.
Crop-a-Dile: Used to set eyelets in paper or to punch holes in any object or to create holes for eyelets, ribbons, and fibers.
3L Crafty Power Tape/Scor-Tape/Heavy Duty Double-Sided Tape: For mounting heavy or hard-to-hold items.
Paper Piercer: Used to pierce paper before adding brads to project or hand-stitching accents.
Pencil: Used for general marking or making light lines on your project before journaling. Easy to erase.
Scissors: Choose a good fine-tipped scissor for detail cutting.
Straight Edge Ruler: Try to choose a metal-edged ruler to use as a cutting guide, which is especially helpful if you are using a craft knife along the edge.
Bone Folder or Stylus: For paper scoring or dry-embossing.
Tweezers: Very useful for positioning small items and lifting stickers from backing.
Wire Cutters: Great tool for cutting decorative wire or removing shanks from buttons.
The Scrapbook Garden's class refund policy is as follows:
Classes must be paid for in advance when signing up. If you are unable to attend a class for which you have already paid and want a refund, you must cancel 7 days in advance of the class. If you cancel within 7 days of the class, you will receive the class kit with instructions, which will be available for pickup the day of the class. This policy is necessary to allow time for our instructors to kit their classes in advance with plenty of time for preparation.
